The summer heat was out in full force for Kelsey and Alex's wedding, although it didn't stop them from having a good time.
Burr Oak Lodge was a beautiful venue with windows overlooking the lake which served as a great backdrop. After the ceremony, we took off on a pontoon boat and tested it's limits by squeezing the whole bridal party on it. We survived and got some great pictures on the water. The Thomasons are such a generous and loving family. I'm inspired by their family and the stories of their two adopted girls. Last month, Kelley and I drove down to, literally, the middle of nowhere in West Virginia to spend the weekend with them. My main desire was to photograph them as a family. I wanted to photograph their routines and the small moments.

Rachel and Jason's wedding last month was a great celebration, combining both Jewish and Catholic traditions. The Acacia Reserve was a beautiful venue and the weather broke just in time for the sunset. However, my favorite part was the reception (which is not normally the case!).
Once the dance floor opened up, the Hora began. Hava Nagila came on and the whole room erupted in celebration. Everyone began circling Jason & Rachel, hoisting them up on chairs, and chanting the traditional Hebrew lyrics, proclaiming joy over the couple. It was my first experience at a wedding with traditional Jewish elements but I certainly hope it's not my last.

Adam and Amanda have been our neighbors for the past two years. It's been a lot of fun getting to know them and to see their girls grow up. Both Adeline and Rosalie are hilarious and adorable! Last Sunday afternoon I stopped by and hung out for a while.

The last time I photographed the Kuhnerts they only had 3 children. Now their count is up to 5! I had so much fun photographing them and seeing all their different personalities come out. I even love the meltdowns and difficulties of getting even one picture of just the kids.
